Undling

Summary

Undlings are a race of underground dwellers that evolved from the beasts that lived in the underground's darkness. Annwn has four main expansive caves that Undlings live in, but the underground of the deserts of Terpes are where they originated from. Though the three subraces of Undling are very different, they do all have a few characteristics that they share. The following applies to all Undlings:

  • All Undlings have solid colored (no eye whites or visible pupils) eyes that can be any color, though black is the most common.

  • All Undlings have green, grey, red, or blue skin.

  • All Undlings have unnaturally big eyes.

  • All Undlings have only sharp teeth, and thus are carnivores.

  • All Undlings have large pointed ears that are generally bigger than their heads.

  • All Undlings can have up to 5 horns, but some are born without any.

  • All Undlings have black hair

They tend to be hoarders of knowledge as they view it very highly.

Goblins tend to have a bad reputation, unfortunately, as those that live above ground were marked as thieves and scoundrels long ago and the reputation stuck. This of course is not true, and Goblins are actually generally very generous humanoids when it comes to money and goods. The only time they will be stingy is with knowledge.

Oni

Hair

Oni have particularly long and thick hair that they often wear in braids with ribbons.

Oni have an average height of 5'0" - 6'0".

Age

Oni have a maximum lifespan of 300 years

History/Information

Oni have the longest lifespan of the Undlings, and they have a vibrant culture and society that is centered around the use of magic, the value of family, and the value of strength. Oni believe that magic should be used in every aspect of life, and those that do so will be rewarded by the Gods when they die.

As for their family values, they have a deep rooted belief in choosing a life-long mate. Divorce and adultery are basically nonexistent in Oni society because of this. They also believe in respect within the family so much so that everyone in the family addresses other family members with very formal honorifics attached to their names. Refraining from doing so is extremely frowned upon. These honorifics are used only for family members or very close friends.

Oni also value strength. Their strength is said to rival that of an Orc or Lamia, and they are very brutal fighters using their hidden strength and affinity for magic to dominate the competition. But it should be noted that they generally do not use this strength for evil as they view misuse of strength for evil means to be pitiful.

They get along quite well with Goblins, as they don't like picking on things smaller and weaker than them.

Culture

Religion

Oni are very religious, and believe in many gods. They often will show their dedication to the gods by wearing special blessed ribbons in their hair. On days when they attend the temple for prayer, they will wear many of these ribbons weaved into their hair.

Family

Oni have an average family unit of 3 people as they typically live in small immediate family groups.

Traditions

Oni have two main traditions. Oni will hold a fighting competition once a year. Though any race is welcome to join the competition, generally only the Oni fight in it. The winner of this competition receives a blessing of their choice from the local priest. The most popular blessing to ask for is virility.

The second tradition is only done in families that are extremely dedicated to magic. When an Oni reaches adulthood, the family will celebrate by tattooing their skin with every rune so that they are always capable of casting any type of magic.

Fighting

Powers

Oni are very unique in that they have innate magic of *every* type of magic, so they are capable of learning many different types of spells very easily.

Preferred Fighting Style

Oni generally prefer melee combat where they can use their great strength and enhance their weapons and abilities through magic.

Weaknesses

Oni are weak to mana draining attacks.

Ogre

Summary

Ogres are the largest of the Undlings and have no innate magic.

Physical Attributes

General

Ogres are large humanoids that tend to be quite fat.

Body

Ogres are much fatter than other Undlings due to the natural fat that they evolved to keep warm in the coldest parts of the underground, where they originated from. But, they are also fat because they consider gluttony to be a virtue.

Ogres have an average height of 8'0" - 10'0".

Age

Ogres have an maximum lifespan of 150 years.

History/Information

Ogres are the ruling race of the Undlings, and are considered nobility in their societies. They are quite fat as they view gluttony to be a virtue and fat to be a sign of wealth and power. They came into this position of nobility because they are extremely smart, and are known to be the smartest of the Undlings (and perhaps even smarter than every other race as well). Because of this intelligence, it was decided thousands of years ago by popular vote that they would rule Undling societies. Some ogres take this responsibility very seriously, while others simply bask in the limelight, enjoying the perks of being nobility.

Their intelligence has aided them in many wars and dealings with people from the overworld as they are very skilled tacticians and negotiators. Without them, it is likely that the overworlders would have wiped them out of existence.

Culture

Religion

Ogres aren't overly religious, but they do believe in the God of worldly luxury called Plutus. They believe that meat is a sacred gift to them from him, and so they worship by eating.

Family

Ogres have an average family unit of 6 as they tend to give birth to up to 4 babies per birth.

Traditions

Ogres hold a yearly feast where they will invite the entire town/city. They will pay for everything, and let the other Undlings eat to their heart's content. This generosity is viewed as the Ogres giving back to the people for electing them to power in the first place.

Fighting

Powers

Ogres do not have any innate magic, and tend to struggle to learn it.

Preferred Fighting style

Ogres generally prefer to have others fight for them, simply directing them from a distance.

Weaknesses

Despite their large size, they are not particularly strong.
