How to Roleplay on the Server

Roleplaying on the server is not much different from roleplaying on the forum, and in general the roleplay guide is still valid for it. But there are a few differences:

  • Finding a roleplay

    • You can find someone to roleplay with by going to warps, asking in chat, asking in the discord, or even just messaging your friends.

    • Expect that if you go to a warp, you are there to roleplay, so don't be surprised if someone walks up to you and tries to start an rp!

  • Keep it short

    • Since roleplaying on a server is instant, unlike on the forum (where you have to wait for someone to respond), it is important to keep your descriptions shorter than what you'd put on the forum. Now that's not to say that you should keep it too short. Generally, you want to keep your turn to under 3 messages (6-8 lines). This way, the person is not waiting forever for you to reply. But don't worry if it takes you a while to get the hang of, everyone has troubles with it every now and then.

  • Formatting your roleplay

    • Formatting is a bit different on the server, as everyone tends to use a different method that they prefer. But don't worry! It's not hard to understand, nor is it difficult to decide on which one to use.

    • Forum formatting.

      • Some people will prefer to keep the same formatting as they use on the server, and keep dialogue in quotations, and everything else in basic grammar rules.

    • ** formatting

      • Some people like to â€‹put their actions and descriptions in asterisks.

      • *Example description* Dialogue

    • -- formatting

      • Some people like to put their actions and descriptions in dashes.

      • -Example description- Dialogue

    • ~~ formatting

      • Some people like to â€‹put their actions and descriptions in tildes.

      • ~Example description~ Dialogue

    • ( ) formatting

      • Some people like to â€‹put their actions and descriptions in parenthesis.

      • (Example description) Dialogue

    • >< formatting

      • Some people like to â€‹put their actions and descriptions in arrows.

      • >Example description< Dialogue

    • Or someone may use any combination of these. As long as it can be understood, it should be fine.
